In 2018, we were one of 29 international projects selected, among 157 competitors, for the 2nd round of the PMI Impact program, with the project “Transnational Illicit Markets Census: from the Triple Border to the city of São Paulo”. The selection took place through the approval of the Expert Council formed by experts in security, economics, and human rights, who worked in the US and French governments, the International Criminal Court, and bodies such as the UN - High Commissioner for Human Rights, UNODC, IACA, and EUROPOL. In Brazil, only DIXIM (JHM Pesquisa period) and the University of São Paulo had projects approved in the PMI Impact program.
We act upon invitation in the main forums to combat illicit markets and organized crime, highlighting the OECD Task Force on Countering Illicit Trade, acting as a representative of FIESP in the body that brings together governments, police, universities, business entities, and bodies such as Interpol and Europol; and the 1st Forum against Illicit Trade held by UNCTAD and TRACIT (Transnational Alliance to Combat Illicit Trade), in which we were the only Brazilian organization to participate in the discussions.
Due to its work in the production of knowledge on illicit markets, DIXIM, through its CEO, was invited to join the group of specialist consultants of the Secretariat of Organization of American States (OAS) Multidimensional Security; nominated to integrate the global network of researchers, Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime – GIATOC and invited to integrate the group of expert consultants of the Secretariat for Multidimensional Security of the Organization of American States (OAS);
